Early writing is taught through RWI alongside the skill of children being able to ‘hold a sentence’. This means developing the ability to independently think of a sentence, say it out loud and write it down with a capital letter and a full-stop.

Children write best when they are stimulated and engaged. As a result, writing at Illogan School is cross curricular and taught through Inspire topics and storytelling. Spelling, grammar and punctuation are taught discretely in lessons with weekly spelling homework.
