Please read below to find out about what we have been learning. There are also some useful links for some learning games that you could play with your child at home.
Sowing and Growing Topic- Spring 2
London Topic- Spring 1
We had a surprise visit from one of our parents today! They used to be
a guard for the Queen and we were lucky enough to interview them about their job. We even got a chance to look at and try on their uniform.
Flying High Topic- Autumn 2
At the end of term Y2 had the opportunity to video call a real pilot!
As part of our Flying High topic, the children have been learning about pilots and how aeroplanes were invented. We asked Oliver (the pilot) lots of questions about his Job and his aeroplane which really inspired the children. We may have some budding pilots in the making!
Year 2 had a fantastic on our trip to Culdrose! We saw the Merlin helicopters and Hawk jets take off and land which was very exciting. We had a look at the fire station on the base and had a go at using a fire extinguisher. We also had the opportunity to talk to real pilots and investigate the control tower. What a morning!
Since our trip to Coldrose, in history, we have been learning about the Wright brothers and their role in developing aeroplanes.
In our outdoor learning sessions we have been investigating the wind! We made windsocks help us understand wind direction. We then made wind decorations with sticks, leaves and string. The children have become really confident at tying knots.
Below are some helpful videos for handwriting.

Please bring in P.E kit and outdoor learning clothes (waterproof trousers, coat and wellies) so that your child can take part in both sessions.
In Y2 we send home Maths and English homework every Friday. We also send home spellings to learn at home on a Friday.
