Welcome to the Year 5 home learning page. We will be updating this part of our school website as often as we can with new and exciting challenges for you and your children to try at home. You may wish to download them to print at home and, wherever this is possible. we will endeavour to add a link for you to do so. Otherwise, please feel free to access the resources online and complete them using technology within your own home. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to your child’s education during this unprecedented break from regular school life.

Online Learning Applications:
Children continue to enjoy practicing their spellings and competing in fun games against friends using Spelling Shed. Staff at school are able to see how often the children are logging in to practice, can remotely celebrate their successes and alter the difficulty of their spellings in future weeks using this assessment.
getepic.com is an online reading resource where children can access a huge number of Accelerated Reader books at different levels. Children can choose a text relevant and at the right level to them, read to themselves, or have it read to them by the app. Children can complete quizzes on those books that they complete and we can see and comment on and congratulate them on their huge effort to continue reading!
To access the app – ask your teacher for an activation link.
Another fantastic maths application where your child’s class teacher can upload tasks for your child to complete in their own time. Children can be set learning which relates to specific learning outcomes and which can be tailored to individual children’s needs.
TT Rockstars and Numbots are still huge favourites of the pupils in our class. These apps allow children to practise their multiplication and division skills along with their mathematical fluency and their rapid recall of learnt number facts. Children’s logins are the same for both apps and these were included in your home learning packs.
Purple Mash is a website which provides games and activities to support learning across the whole curriculum. Teachers are able to set the children individual tasks to complete and are able to see remotely how children are getting on with these. Staff are able to assess the success of those completing the tasks and offer constructive feedback for children to act upon.
